Amity University Mumbai has partnered with Uni-Italia to promote Italy as the learning destination for Amitians under a special scholarship scheme in the “Study in Italy” initiative. This collaboration brings about new opportunities for higher education in the fields of Information Technology, Engineering and Architecture. The deliberations with Federica Maria Giove, director, Uni-Italy from Italian consulate and pro-vice chancellor A.W Santhosh Kumar, registrar Hira Vyas and Abhijit Shirodkar mainly focused on the student exchange, collaborative research and ‘Study in Italy’ initiative.
Kumar said, “The collaboration with Uni-Italia of the Consulate of Italy Mumbai with Amity University has currently lined up many academic events fostering the interest of students to nurture studies in Italy on various domains. The ensuing event of academic interactions planned online will give a heads up to such collaborations, which will be followed by more robust university interactions from Italy. This international collaboration with Italy via Uni-Italia adds another feature to the cap of Amity Mumbai that currently has similar collaborations with other European and American Universities.”
The Uni-Italia is a centre for academic promotion and orientation to study in Italy. It guides foreign students with the objective to foster their integration in the new academic, social and cultural context. The Uni-Italia association offers assistance to students from abroad in Italy and in their own countries for helping them in choosing a course of study of their personal interests. It also helps students in dealing with bureaucratic issues such as visas, contacts with university offices and public administration.
Giove said, “Right now students are preferring the US and UK for higher education. Now our focus is to promote Italy as a new education hub. It will give them an overall idea as to where Italy is, why one should decide to study there – that’s the role of Uni-Italia.”
