Abstract
Pollution of waterways by wastes, sewage, petroleum and its products in the country has reached an alarming rate as it has proven to have a direct negative effect on the environment today. Plants, marine life and even humans are in one way or another affected by the high rate of environmental pollution in the country. This study on the Effect of kerosene pollution on water Hyacinth plant has been aimed at observing how the water hyacinth plants would behave in a kerosene polluted environment, further, enlighten and brings to our awareness the dangers associated with environmental pollution as it adversely affects man and its environment. This study has shown that little or high concentration of kerosene in water bodies pollutes and contaminate the water and render it harmful to water hyacinth plants as within the scope of the study. It is therefore recommended that authorities and agencies that are concerned as well as individuals should take adequate measures to bring the rate of environmental pollution to the minimum in order to protect marine life’s, plants, humans, and the environment at large.
