Abstract
This project is on Effective planning and control: a prerequisite for achieving organizational objectives with Federal Polytechnic Bida, as a case study. The major aim of this research work is to investigate and analyze the importance of planning and control in an organization. The project contains logical steps in planning and emphasizes that control should be tailored to plan and positioned in the organizational structure to specify the need for effectiveness. Information and data concerning this project were collected by means of questionnaire and consultation of some textbooks. During the course of this research work, it was discovered that the success of any organization is dependent on effective planning and control. It was also found out that qualitative decision making and effective planning and control are closely related to each other. It was recommended that the management should not lose sight of the fact that organizational success depends on effective planning and control. It was also recommended that planning and control should be done on a quarterly basis and not annually to ensure that the workers are reminded of the goals of the organization.
