Hydraulic conductivity and volumetric shrinkage of lateritic soil stabilized with teakwood waste ash

3,000.00

Description

Abstract The aim of this study was to determine the volumetric shrinkage and hydraulic conductivity of lateritic soil stabilized with Teak wood waste ash, in order to know if TWWA can be used as liners and to improve the engineering properties of weak soils. Natural lateritic soil samples were collected from test pits in front of Osogbo City Stadium, Olorunda Local Government, Osogbo, Osun State. The soil samples collected in large-to-medium-sized bags were subjected to tests such as: Atterberg’s limit,  particle size distribution, compaction, volumetric shrinkage and hydraulic conductivity. The dry sample was stabilized with 4 to 20% of TWWA added. The index properties of soil were done with varying dosages of TWWA.TWWA has no effect as a pozzolanic material on lateritic soil in improving the volumetric properties, but it’s ideal for volumetric shrinkage improvement of lateritic soil. KEYWORDS: Teak wood waste ash (TWWA), Moisture Content (MC), Density, Lateritic soil, Volumetric shrinkage, Pozzolanic, Hydraulic Conductivity .
