Abstract

Impact of internet use on students’ academic research (a study of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua). This study examined the impact of the internet on students’ academic research a study of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic. Among the objectives were to find out the rationales behind the use of the internet by Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic students, the extent to the use of the internet affects academic research among Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic students survey research design was used in the study. The instrument used for the data collection was the questionnaire and the random sampling procedure was used to select 300 respondents, of which 290 were found useful for data analysis. The results showed that the internet has serious positive academic effects on the students of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic. The study recommends that orientation and training programmes should be conducted by tertiary institutions regularly. There should be more cyber café on campus.
