Description

Abstract

The study was conducted on the physicochemical parameters of soil of Nwamba reserve forest in Ndubia Igbagu Village in Izzi L.G.A of Ebonyi State, Nigeria. The aim of the study is to assess the physicochemical parameters of soil samples from Nwamba Reserve forest in Ndubia Ebonyi state. The samples were randomly selected at the depth of 0-15cm from each of the plots using soil auger and was taken to the laboratory for analyses. The results indicated that the soil at plot 6 had the highest moisture conducts (239.34%). The highest pH value (7.24) was obtained at plot 3 which is slightly alkaline compared with the pH of other plots that were slightly acids in nature which is most preferable for plant growth. The calcium contents had the highest value in plot 10.(4.936 mol/kg), sodium and phosphorus  had the highest value in plot 7 (5.528mol/kg and 7.110mol/kg), aluminum content was found very high in plot 6 (3.112), the potassium content was very high in plot 9 (11.223m/kg) as compared to other plots. Iron content was high in plot 5 (20.449g/kg). The highest magnesium was found in plot 1 (18.974mol/kg) and the organic carbon was high sin plot 4 (4.09g/kg)with other plots having similar contents (values ranging from 2.10).It is therefore concluded that  these values assess from the physiochemical parameters of soil  helps in the growth of the forest vegetation.
