Abstract

This project looks at Prevalence of hepatitis B infection among pregnant women, a case study of Federal Medical Center, Owo. This study investigated the causes and prevalence of Hepatitis B infection among pregnant women in Owo, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State as a case study. A self-constructed checklist was used for data collection among the 420 participants recruited for the study descriptive statistics of frequency tables and simple percentages and pearson product moment correlation statistics were used for data analysis. Hypotheses were accepted or not accepted at 0.05 significance level. The result revealed that age is a significant factor influencing HBV prevalence parity is not a significant factor influencing HBV prevalence level of education is a significant factor influencing HBV prevalence family type is not a significant factor influencing HBV prevalence. It was recommended among others that Health Education programs of awareness, seminars and lectures aimed at disseminating reliable health information to age groups of high HBV prevalence should be adopted by Health educators to help reduce further spread.
