Abstract
This discourse seeks to investigate how the insurance sector has impacted immensely into the growth of the Nigeria economy. Also, ascertaining whether life and non-life insurance industry have any significant impact on the growth of Nigeria economy. In analysis using data from NICON and Hallmark insurance company between (2005-2009), I ascertained robust evidence that non-life insurance has a positive and significant impact on economic growth than the life insurance. Recommendations were also made that would help to improve further the performance of insurance industry on the economic growth of Nigeria in particular.
