Abstract
This project has been complied to examine the role played by Deposit Money Bank in Nigeria Economy Development. It states the problem facing banks which are the inability to lend, inability to meet the distributions of loans and credit facilities and so many other problems. It also gives the historical development of bank as far back as 1894 and also the service among others. It also states how Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is controlling banks through monetary policy instruments, like open merchant operations cash retraction, direct control bank rate, moral suasion etc. This project also recommends that the government should look into possible solutions to the problem of banks through industrial expansion and growth, adequate capitalization and also encourage savings. This writes up will be of advantage to students to study in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education among others.
