Abstract
We the students have written on the role of Local Government in the socio-economic and political development of a community. The study is programmed in five main chapters with each chapter explaining some related issues about community development as it facilitates the growth and achievement of local government in nation building. For example, chapter one discuss the relevant issue about the background. In other words, detail explanation is given in the introduction, definition of key concepts, the significance and limitation. Chapter two contains the literature review. It is meant to appraise the theories and assertion of several authors and philosophers on community development issues. The role of local government, functions, contributions and problems of community development in Ofu local area. Chapter three is the research methodology. It contains the method of data collection, sample and procedure for data analysis, for interpretation. Chapter four is formed to present data for interpretation and analysis. Chapter five deals with the summary, recommendation and conclusion.
