Abstract

Time series analysis of the reported cases of accidents from 2003 – 2007. Data for this study are of the secondary type which were collected from Federal Road Safety Commission Owerri from 2003-2007. The analysis was done using Buys-Ballot procedure in time series analysis. The trend analysis using Minitab shows that the data are quadratic trend and there is a significant increase in the trend of road accidents from 2003-2007 having third quarter of 2006 as the“peak”. Deaths and injuries resulting from road accidents in recent times have continued to be a source of great concern to many in Imo state and Nigeria at large. This study is therefore intended to look at the characteristics of the data on road accidents in Imo state with a view to offering solutions
