Abstract

Trend analysis on covid-19 mortality in Nigeria – a comparison between selected southern and northern region. The study focused on making a comparison of the mortality trend of COVID-19 between the Northern and the Southern region of Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey. Secondary data on reported confirmed cases, recovery and death cases from (COVID-19) in Nigeria for the period of February 2020– October 2021. Were analyzed using simple line charts and trend analysis model using SPSS. The result of the study revealed that the confirmed cases of COVID-19 is trending more in the Northern region. However, the cases of recovery are also trending higher in that region compared to the Southern part of Nigeria. More interestingly, the study revealed that despite the increased confirmation of new cases in the North, death cases is higher in the southern region. The study still shows that the reported cases of the pandemic are still on the increase despite efforts made at trying to curtail it.
