Abstract
Statistical analysis on Covid-19 and levels of literacy in selected states of northern Nigeria. The study focused on assessing reported cases of the COVID-19 pandemic and the level of illiteracy in 10 states of the Northern part of Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey. Secondary data on reported cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria (National Center for Disease Control) as well as literacy rate (National Bureau of Statistics) for the period of 2020-2021. The study data were analyzed using simple line charts and simple descriptive statistics such as mean, median, standard deviation and standard error. The result of the study a mean confirmed cases 2,042, for death, the mean of 30. The expected number of individuals vaccinated in a Northern state of Nigeria is about 41,859 with a variation of about 3000 individuals across the states. The evaluation of the literacy rate shows a mean literacy rate of 29.3% of the Northern states studies. Confirmed cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in these states are highest in Plateau state and vaccination is most in Gombe state. Borno is poorly vaccinated and has the least level of literacy in the Northern states studied.
