Abstract

An assessment of the impact on selected demographic characteristics on fertility differentials. The focus of this study was based on evaluating the major demographic determinants of fertility rate among women in Ethiope west. The study, therefore, conducted a field survey targeted at examining the influence of women’s age, husband’s age, level of income and the nature of marriage among 300 selected mothers through questionnaire administration. The outcome of the questionnaires was analyzed using the multiple linear regression model and results revealed that of all the variables examined as potential factors that determine the fertility levels of women, only the age of women and their level of income were found to be the significant factors that influence their fertility levels. Fertility was concluded to have a significant relationship with income and age, thus women’s age and their income have the potentials to increase their family size.
