Abstract

Utilization of information resources and services by students in academic library. This study was intended to study the Utilization of Information Resources and Services by students in the Academic Library, A case study of Kano State Polytechnic Library. This study was guided by the following objectives: To find out the kinds of information resources available in the Kano State Polytechnic Library. To determine the service available in the Kano State Polytechnic Library. To determine the extent of utilization of information resources and services by users. To ascertain the level of satisfaction with the use of information and services in Kano State Polytechnic library. To investigate the challenges encountered by users in polytechnic libraries. The study employed descriptive and explanatory design questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using the chi statistical table of frequency and percentage was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were 150 staff and users of public libraries, Kano state. The study findings revealed that Utilization of Information Resources and Services by students in Academic Library Based on the findings from the study, efforts should be made by the Nigerian government and stakeholders in funding public libraries in other to achieve educational development.
