Abstract

The study examines the Effect of Board Gender Diversity on the Financial Performance of Quoted Deposit Money Banks a case study of Access Bank of Nigeria plc, First Bank of Nigeria plc and Zenith bank of Nigeria plc under the period of 5year(2014-2018). The study is built on three Objectives and performance is measured with Return on Asset (ROA) Return on Equity (ROE) and Net Profit (NP). Works of literature relating to the Effect of Board Gender Diversity on the financial performance of Quoted Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria were extensively reviewed. Stakeholder theory underpinned the study. The study employed Descriptive Research design, Secondary data was obtained from the annual financial report of Quoted Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria within the period of 5year (2014-2018). The data is analyzed using Linear Regression, ANOVA, correlation test analysis using SPSS version 23. The finding revealed that there are more male board members in the selected banks, the finding also revealed that board gender has no significant effect on ROA, ROE, and NP. The study then concluded that Board gender diversity has no significant effect on the financial performance of some quoted deposit money banks. The study recommended that the firm should consider increasing the number of females among the management to make the decision gender bias-free.
