Abstract
A research writing on philosophical analysis of Augustine’s notion of God’s existence. Man by nature is a religious being and the highest point of his religious life is ever tied to his close relationship with his God. This study presents a philosophical analysis of Augustine’s notion of God’s existence. Augustine conceives God as the creator of the universe and also of mankind. It bothers on the philosophical issue of the problem of evil, the objectives of this work are to question if the available arguments for the existence of God are logically tenable, and to investigate if the problem of evil negates the existence of God. By employing analytic method, this study finds the philosophical ideology of Augustine’s notion of God’s existence, and this research is of great significance theoretically to researchers within the field of philosophy. This work concludes that God is the creator of the universe and He is not the author of evil according to Augustine. .
