Description
An evaluation of the processes involved in valuation of variation on civil engineering projects.
Abstract
Construction industry in Nigeria is typically considered fragmented. Lack of integration tends to incur additional costs from rework. the variations that arise in the contract need to be valued accordingly depending upon the nature of the variations. The valuation of variation has long been recognized as a prime cause of conflict and dispute in civil engineering project management. Such disputes often concern the price and\or rates to be applied to the varied works. the techniques for the valuation of variations need to be assessed to determine whether the values for valuation of variations in the standard forms of contract are adequate and appropriate to reduce the disputes the objectives of this study is firstly to know the effects of variation in civil engineering project, secondly to identify and access the techniques for the valuation of varieties in CE work and finally to determine and access the factors responsible for variations in EC works. The scope of this study is limited to the public sector construction contract chapter two reviewed related literature on the issue of valuation of variations, ways in which variation order etc. the chapter three is the methodology of the study. Chapter our is the data analysis and presentation of findings. And finally, chapter five deals with the summary, conclusion and recommendation. .
