Abstract
Attitude of health care workers toward kidney donation in Delta State University Teaching Hospital. This project work examined the attitude of health care workers toward kidney donation in delta state university teaching hospital. Among the objectives is to assess the knowledge of health workers about the concept of kidney donation, to examine the attitude of health workers toward kidney donation, to know the factors that influence the attitude of health workers toward kidney donation, and to identify the hindrances toward kidney donation. Many medical and allied works of literature were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research uses descriptive survey to sample 161 staff of Delta State University Teaching Hospital. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 115 questionnaires were distributed out of which 100 were retrieved. In conclusion, recommendations were made that health workers will know how to counsel individuals that come under their care, kidney donation is not just a harvesting session, but simply a gift donated to save a life, Nurses play a significant role in overcoming the difficulty encountered regarding kidney donation, the knowledge will guide the nurses in their relationship with the patient in end stage of life, nurses are the most critical link in the kidney procurement process, this study also helps to influence interactions between the nurses and members of the health team and allied professional and also the nurse and patient’s family members.
