Abstract

Challenges and prospects of computerization in secondary school libraries in Owerri west local government area of Imo state – case study of Bethel Seminary School Nekede, Owerri, Imo state. This study was designed to investigate the extent of challenges and prospects of computerization in secondary school libraries in Owerri west local government area of Imo state. The simple random sampling techniques were used in selecting a total of 80 secondary school students. Data generated was analyzed and the results showed that the computer is very useful in educational research and that secondary school students always get useful educational materials on the computer. Finally, conclusion and recommendation were made. Based on the results of findings, it will be wise to make the following recommendations 1. That computer usage on computers should not be commercialized 2. That every institution should as much as possible have an ICT center 3. Students should be granted free access to use the computer facilities in educational research 4. ICT illiterates should be trained by college management or staff 5. Parents should procure at least a computer system for their children for home use
