Abstract
This study examines government expenditure and economic development in Nigeria. The study had specific objectives a: to examine the effect of education costs on economic development in Nigeria, to evaluate the effect of Health cost on economic development in Nigeria, to determine the effect of security costs on economic development in Nigeria and to Evaluate the effect of infrastructure cost on the economic development in Nigeria. This study adopted the ex post facto research design. For effective analysis of the topic, data were collected only from secondary sources, and hypotheses were analyzed using Multiple Regression. The study concluded based on the summary of findings, education cost, health cost, security cost and infrastructure cost was found not to be statistically significant. However, their respective model summary of ANOVA sub-tables shows that the overall models of the four independent variables’ F-values were statistically significant with variations on P-values.
