1.0INTRODUCTION

Information technology is one of the common phenomena found all over the world today. The changes that are constantly taken place greatly influence the need of the management. As such modern methods technologies for exploiting information are necessary to satisfy the needs of our Nigerian economic. It is an office managers choice to pass information that will offer ample impact for the Nigerian economy within seconds.

Information technology is a course which prepares students for jobs in many fields of modern technology, particularly networking and internet services.

The main aim and objective of the preparatory programme is to provide a competent broad knowledge enough to work where the concept of computer networking is highly practical and also allowed the graduates to choose between a variety of related work opportunities.

Information technology as a course is practically oriented in nature which is aimed at eliminating problems of unemployment creating an effective impact passing information in managers organization and the resources at large and promoting technological literally among students of tertiary institutions.

Programmes for educating by intensive classroom and computer laboratory practical training A planned sequence of course in emphasized in the curriculum of the National Board for Technical Education NBTE whereby one is compelled 20 specialize in the major areas of study before graduating.

It is for this reason that researcher decided to specialize in the area of information technology computer networking in which he consider his areas of interest in preparing this research work.

Computer network can be defined as the interconnection of the computer geographical location or universe together to enable them access each other in the purpose of putting information, recourse sharing and to enable work in a group by complementing each other.

This research work is designed in such a manner that will trace out the impact of information technology and management on the Nigeria economy.

1.1BACKGROUND OF STUDY

The federal ministry of finance Abuja was established in 1958 by the Finance Control and Management Ordinance to replace the finance department. The ordinance conferred on the federation it is a federation. It is a federal ministry whose authority directly or indirectly affects lives of millions of people including, their immediate workers through effective information management.

The ministry performs the following function.

i.Provision of adequate notice and information when needed and where needed.

ii.Managing revenue allocation.

iii.Preparing annual estimate of revenue and non oil recourses.

iv.Monitoring government revenue on oil and non oil resources.

v.Formation of policies on fiscal and monetary matters.

vi.Supervising the insurance industry in order to carryout its the federal ministry of finance has a well defined structured and channel of communication.

The ministry is headed by a minister who is assisted by two permanent secretaries, finance and budget. Both report to the minister. The minister is the political head while the permanent secretaries of finance and budget respectively head the various departments in the ministry.

The secretaries in the ministry are responsible for dissemination of information. They transfer information through interceding that is, human beings secretary are involved in moving information around information is copied inside diskettes or preprinted on paper and conveyed by secretaries to the next standalone computer. This mostly shown the pace of information processing, but with a modern technique of information technology now at the federal ministry of finance Abuja, with a network system, however information can easily move from one computer to the others through a communicating channels.

This seriously prevents damages of information thereby creating an impact on secretaries convey once of information in the ministry.

1.2STATEMENTS OF PROBLEM

The researchers problem was to trace out the impact of information technology and management on the Nigeria economy.

1.3OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The objectives of the stuffy includes the following the objective of this research work is to provide a Brief summary of some of the technology developments that have taken place in information technology and how those development have had and influence on the way secretaries work and on the Nigerian economy in general also this research work would serve as a practical fulfillment for the award of National Diploma in office technology and Management OTM.

1.4RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS/RESEARCH QUESTIONS

The researcher has designed these questions for use as a guide int eh course of this study,

i.Are you of the opinion that, an investigation in the impact of information technology on secretaries in truly a researchable topic

ii.How has the development of information technology influenced secretaries under commercial business

iii.How has the development of information technology influenced the way educational resources are provided

iv.How is the development of information technology influenced by the government

v.How has the development of information technology influenced the way news and media organizations deliver contact

vi.How has the development of information technology influenced the interaction between institution and individual from the individual point of view

vii.How has the development of information technology influenced the interactions between individuals

1.5SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The research work is significant because it fosters the practical experience of the student and provide summary of inventive ideas. This would also be of great significance to the economy of large as it is stated out clearly, the impact of information technology has on secretaries to manage the Nigerian economy.

This would further enable the secretaries to manage economy in Nigerian of large the research study would also serve as a reference material for further studies.

1.6SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The scope of study in this research work is only limited to the federal ministry of finance Abuja and not other ministries.
