Abstract
Knowledge and practice of adolescents towards the use of family planning method in selected secondary schools in Ilorin east local government area, Kwara state. Knowledge of adolescents towards the use of family planning methods remains one of the best ways to implement family planning methods to families. This project work, therefore, examined the knowledge and practice of adolescents towards the use of family planning method in selected secondary schools in Ilorin East Local Government Area of, Kwara State Ilorin. It also informed the health officers on the need to educate adolescents about family methods. Among the objectives is to assess the knowledge and practice of adolescents’ use of family planning, to identify the impact of religious background toward adolescents’ use of contraceptives and to evaluate how age affects adolescents’ use of family planning. Many medical and allied literatures were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research use descriptive survey to sample 101 students of the selected school. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 101 questionnaires were distributed out of which 100 were retrieved. In conclusion, recommendations were made that health education should be given to enlighten nurses and adolescents on the importance of contraceptive use for adolescents who are sexually active, Nurses should be sensitive to the needs of this adolescent and not be judgmental. And caregivers such as parents and relatives should endeavor to teach their wards about sex education and contraceptive use and not to be judgemental while given this information Keywords adolescents, family, planning, methods, and practice
