Significance of modern rail transportation on the development of the hotel industry – case study of Nigeria Railway Corporation. This study examines the significance of modern rail transportation on the development of the hotel industry. The main objective of this study is to establish the significance of modern rail transportation on the development of the hotel industry. To ascertain the significance of rail transport on hotel industry development, to examine the relationship between rail transportation and hotel industry, to ascertain the government’s participation in the hotel industry in reference to the transport system in Nigeria and to identify whether rail transport development contributes to the level of revenue from the hotel industry. This study employs both expo-facto research design and exploratory survey. Descriptive statistics were used to determine the sample characteristics. 43 structured questionnaires were sent to the organization out of which 29 were returned.  While a Chi-square analysis was performed to test the hypotheses. This study revealed that there is a significant relationship between rail transportation and the hotel industry and Modern railway transportation has a significant effect on the development of the hotel industry. Arisen from the analysis of the study, the study recommended that The state distribution of the network could enhance the effective decentralization of the corporation, whereby each of the states would own and run the tracks while leasing out the running of the passenger and freight services in the hotel industry, The NRC should provide more vibrant rail network by supporting the hotel industry development., It is therefore recommended that an effective operation of NRC will depend solely on adequate funding, investment in operating machinery and effective management.
