Abstract

The project work “The effect of quality control in the building production process”. (A Case Study of Afikpo, Ebonyi State), is worthy of research because quality control in construction project is to ensure the totality of the features and characteristics of a product or service that has the ability to satisfy stated need. The study investigates the problems of quality in construction project. The study was conducted using field survey which involved structured questionnaire distributed to contractors, structural engineers, client, Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Builders and site supervisors in different construction projects. The selected construction projects were chosen by random sampling of sixteen construction companies recorded. The data collected were presented in table and analyzed using inferential descriptive method. The findings revealed that almost all the construction projects have poor communication and co-ordination between construction team and design team, use of unqualified workers, use of unspecified materials and components, and client insisting on his own quality among other. Which has the highest response of quality control in construction project It is suggested that the (SON) should enforce existing laws on quality control as it affects the construction industry. That the right professionals be made to play their specific rules in project delivery.
