The effect of tax policy on the financial performance of business in Nigeria. Abstract
Nigeria in general has been experiencing a lot of problems in carrying out its obligation when it comes to issues related to business generation in the country. This study was aimed at ascertaining the effect of tax policy on the performance of business profiles in Nigeria. The study made use of survey design in the form of structured questionnaires. The questionnaires were administered to the staff of Katsina custom services command. The data was analyzed using simple percentage and frequency table, the result shows that there is a lack of proper bookkeeping and accounting records by taxpayers and tax administrators are not being given all information and explanation considered necessary. Also, the effect and causes of tax policy extracted by tax administrators are not being given much consideration. Finally, the study recommends that tax administrators should be given good consideration to avoid the violation of tax policy.
