Abstract
The knowledge and utilization of integrated management of neonatal and childhood illness approach among nurses in Children Specialist Hospital centre, Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. This project work examined the knowledge and utilization of integrated management of neonatal and childhood illness approach among nurses in Children Specialist Hospital Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. Among the objectives is to determine the level of knowledge nurses have about IMNCI in the Specialist Hospital Centre-Igboro, to determine how well the nurses of Specialist Hospital Centre-Igboro utilize the IMNCI strategy in the management of children, ascertain if time influences the use of IMNCI in the care of children in Specialist Hospital in Centre-Igboro. Many medical and allied works of literature were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research uses a descriptive survey to sample 50 respondents from the study area. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 50 questionnaires were distributed out of which 50 were retrieved. In conclusion, recommendations were made that the Nurses should be enthusiastic and eager to learn and acquire the evolving skills in health promoting strategies, nurses should be magnanimous in the quest for more knowledge about IMNCI, nurses should ensure that they show interest in the recent developments in childcare and enroll for training from their personal purse rather than waiting on their organizations or the government, the community should embark on accepting and practicing the introduction of new strategies, there should be consented efforts by stakeholders to come up with strategies to encourage health promoting behaviours and community leaders should be involved in health promotion programmes about IMNCI
