Abstract
This research is on The problem of loan recovery in Nigeria commercial banks, case study of Union Bank Plc. This study investigated the relationship between advancing and recovery of loan in Nigeria money deposit bank. It aimed at finding solutions to loan defaulters that exist in Nigeria’s banking system. Questionnaire and personal interviews were used as the method of data collection. The method of data analysis used was percentage table and chi-square proportion. The major findings show that banks normally give loans to their customers and that banks take into consideration before loans are granted. Banks also have managerial arrangements for their loan recovery activities. Factors found to be responsible for loan default such as misrepresentation and dishonestly on the part of the beneficiaries. While poor appraisal of feasibility studies, improve evaluation of the customers and mismanagement of customers account on the part of the bank. This research, therefore, recommends that in order to ensure an effective and efficient loan recovery the bank should properly evaluate every loan facility grants to customers.
