Abstract
This project looks at The status and impact of the office manager in the labour market. The study was carried out in three organizations in Enugu State. The result of the study would assist the management of various organizations in determining the worth of office managers in the business world. Two sets of questions covering these questions were drawn up and administered to a sample of secretaries and bosses from these organizations in Enugu State. From the analysis of the data collected, some findings were made, the most prominent fo these findings were that secretaries are more in demand in the labour market than any other category of staff and that the role of the office manager will be better appreciated if she performs well-defined duties. Based on the findings, a number of recommendations were made which says that since the duties of secretaries as indispensable and demanding in all organizations, efforts should be geared towards job satisfaction and good working conditions so as to retain secretaries in the profession.
