Description

Abstract

An examination of environmental hazards – responses and statistical relationship. This study is set to examine the importance of statistical analysis in providing mathematical assessment and prediction of these risks of environmental hazards in various fields, making environmental decisions like hazard control, pollution control, the application of statistical methods may prove significant in exploring environmental sciences and thus the motivation of this study to explicate the application of regression methods in examining the effect of crude oil spillage (oil pollution) on aquatic life. A statistical experiment was conducted on subjecting fishes to two environments, one contaminated with petroleum products and the other with just clean water. The use of descriptive tools and independent sample test was used and the result indicated that fishes in contaminated or polluted environment experiences more fatality and thus, environmental statistics help us to empirically examine the occurrences in the environment and how they can be managed using statistical techniques.
