Abstract
This research work is on Health and safety measures in an industrial setting, a case study of Umeh’s Sawmill Industry, Zango Daji Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi state.) Due to the activities of the industry (SAWMILL), dust and noise pollution is one of the main problems which can cause health hazards to the workers and people living close to the industry. The significance of the study was based on the industry the prevention and promoting the health of the workers and the community at large. The specific rephrase were specific and four hypotheses all related to the research questions. Works of literature were searched in order to cover the opinions of popular authorities. The methods employed for data collection from selected study subjects were questionnaires, interviews and observation. The data collected were gathered, tabulated and analysis and testing of the hypothesis were done using the Chi-square method. From the study, findings were made which include that workers are faced with health hazards as a result of exposure to dust and noise pollution emitted from UMEH’S SAWMILL. It was recommended among others that adequate protective devices should be made available to workers by the management (UMEH’S) and proper supervision on the uses should be done through health education.
