Abstract
This research is on A study on assessment practice in secondary schools – a case study of some selected secondary schools in Gwale local government area, Kano state. In the study, a descriptive design of survey type was adopted. The sample for the study was selected using simple random sampling. Also the data collected was analyzed using simple percentage. The result of the study have showed that the teachers adopts written tests, oral tests, homework and self-assessment to assess their students in the schools. The study, therefore, recommends embedding classroom assessment in curriculum of higher education, training of teachers on assessment and enacting of policy on assessment as it will help in the improvement in performance of both teachers and students.
