Abstract

Application of cumulative sum chart in monitoring the quality of imperial leather soap – case study of PZ Cussons Nigeria plc. This study employed a cumulative sum (CUSUM) control chart in establishing control limits for monitoring the quality of imperial leather soap manufactured by PZ Cussons. The data used were primary data on the quality characteristics used in producing imperial leather soap. The study revealed from the CUSUM control chart that the process of producing imperial leather soap is in control. On the basis of this conclusion, control limits for future production of imperial leather soap are: (LCL0.0000, UCL3.1061). For fragrance (TSP), (LCL0.0000, UCL0.9118). For water (OZ), (LCL0.0000, UCL0.1483). For stabilizer (%), (LCL0.0000, UCL14.0276). For weight (g/m) and (LCL0.0000, UCL0.0368) for glycerin (g/cm3).
