Abstract

Application of symmetric balanced incomplete block to the study of the effects of four different brands of NPK fertilizer on four varieties of cassava. In this study, we employed symmetric and unsymmetric balanced incomplete block designs in investigating the effects of fertilizer varieties on the yield of cassava varieties. The data used were obtained from a secondary source. For the symmetric balanced incomplete block design (SBIBD), the study compared the yield of four varieties of cassava that resulted from the application of four fertilizer varieties. Similarly, for the unsymmetric balanced incomplete block design(UBIBD), the study compared the yield of nine varieties of cassava that resulted from application from three fertilizer varieties. The designs were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the results of the analysis showed that the various varieties of fertilizers have significant effects on the cassava yield.
