Abstract
This project work is carried out to ascertain the appraisal of the impact of information technology on the performance of public organizations. Using the Kebbi State Board of Internal Revenue as a case study, the problems identified by the researcher in the cause of this research work: Lack of skilled personnel, high cost of maintenance and computer virus as an issues of concern. The main objective of this research work is to determine the problem confronting the application of information technology in Kebbi State Ministry of Finance, to determine the extent to which service delivery is being efficiently carried out and to provide solution to the identified problems. The significance of the study is to help in giving the staff and public access to know the impact of information technology systems in public organizations. A number of limitation were encountered such as transformation, time factor, lack of reliable and relevant information, and above all financial constraints which hampered the extent of this research work. The literature review highlighted the impact, challenges and procurement of information technology systems in public organizations. In the research methodology, the use of primary data was employed to form the analysis and also the population and sample size was under the study, it was however recommended that there should be a continued training of staff as new invention of information technology system emanate on a concurrent basis.
