Assessment of newspaper reading habit of students in Nigerian tertiary institutions (a study of Delta state polytechnic Ogwashi-uku).
Abstract
The study focused on the awareness of newspaper reading habits of students in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions. The study made use of the survey research design. The primary instrument of data collection was the questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed and presented in tables using simple percentages. The findings of the study revealed that Newspaper Reading Habits have influenced the students in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions. The study further recommended that schools should embark on reading advocacy programmes to scale up the reading habits of the undergraduates, awareness and selective dissemination of information services of the institution should be increased to improve awareness and use of the library resources, collection development policy of the institution should be reviewed to make room for electronic resources that can be accessed without the use of the internet.
