Description
Carcass characteristics of rabbit-fed diet containing graded levels of dried cabbage (Brassica oleracea) leaf residues.
Abstract
ABSTRACT Effective utilization of cabbage leaf residue will improve environmental sanitation. The study was carried out to investigate the effect of dried cabbage leaf residue on the carcass characteristics (live weight, bled weight, carcass weight, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, small intestine, large intestine, forelimbs, hindlimbs, head, back and breast) of weaner rabbits. Using a completely randomized design, 24 weaner rabbits were randomly allotted to four dietary treatments having 0.0%, 5.0%, and 10.0% and 15.0% levels of inclusion of dried cabbage leaf residue in their rations. Significant difference (p0.05) was observed in the live weight, bled weight, and carcass weight between rabbits fed dried cabbage leaf residue and those not. It is recommended that dried cabbage leaf residue be used in supplementing weaner rabbits’ diet
