Abstract
This study was aimed at investigating the comparative study of the socioeconomic background of parents towards their children in relation to the academic performance of the primary schools’ students with a particular reference to the Bauchi town. In the questionnaire based on the three research questions raised by the researches. The questionnaire were distributed to male and female. Thus, this respondent was invariably the witness to the problems. Under investigation, the respondents were selected randomly from ten (10) upper basic schools in the area. The respondent opined that parents of higher economic status have higher financial status, power advantages and command higher authority in the society. Thus, such status parents have a higher appreciation of the value of qualitative education and therefore send their children to a better school, ensure adequate provision of learning material for their children, pay their fees, timely pay particular attention to their school academic. The respondents were of the opinion that students from poor parenthood may not enjoy these advantages and are therefore prone to achieved less academically. The result of this research shows that relationship definitely exists between academic performance and students’ parental status. The research identified to their different occupations, income, level, connections to power and authority. It’s for the established status and academic performance as it discovered that students from high status. Parents achieve higher academic high given that the condition that favors learning, motivation, conducive environment and others are in favor of high status children more to the disadvantage of the indigent students. Finally, the research made fact reaching suggestions as to how to named or enhance the academic performance of students that come from a low parental background. These included good school environment and others.
