Abstract

Copy editing and its impact on information dissemination – a study of Orient TV Owerri. This study examines the impact of copy editing on information dissemination. The researcher for this study made use of the survey research design and a population of 91 people was selected from Orient TV. The questionnaire served as an instrument for data collection, 91 copies were distributed to the respondents and a total of 74 were successfully retrieved and analyzed using percentage tables. From the analysis, it was deduced that the Editorial board in Orient is active and ensures proper editing before going on air though respondents also said most news is killed in the editorial room for certain reasons. The following recommendations were made: Editors should endeavor at all times to ensure an error-free copy to avoid misleading the public. Copy editors should at all-time be objective and uphold the editing code at all times.
