Abstract
Design and fabrication of corn sheller machine. A machine for corn shelling is highly and greatly needed for consistency of corn usage at local and international levels. With regard to this indispensable need, this improved corn shelling machine was designed to operate by removing or shelling 6.34kg of grains per hour and allowing the cob to drop off through a designed space. The process also allows the corn chaff to be blown by a fan attached below the cylindrical drum. The fan blade was intentionally made to rotate anticlockwise to achieve the direction of blowing out the corn chaff. The machine is power-driven by 0.75kw[1hp] electric motor through the means of belt drive. The shelling is done by a thresher contained in the chamber and driven by a pulley belt arrangement. The machine was tested to achieve the 6.34kg maize per hour capacity. It has an overall dimension of 890 ×470×180mm and a shaft speed of 1450 rpm. The machine was designed to achieve up to 75% efficiency..
