Abstract
This project is on Design and implementation of a Web-based plagiarism detection system. Plagiarism is the act of taking or attempting to take or to use (whole or parts) of another person’s works, without referencing or citing him/her as the owner of this work. Web-based plagiarism was designed to detection put copyright checks on the academic environment. The system was designed to detect plagiarized material and also minimize plagiarism. The test result showed that the system can detect any similarities in the uploaded material by generating a percentage of similarities between two files or many files. Data for this study were collected using an oral interview with structured questions with the physical observation of students in the University of Uyo. Object-Oriented Analysis Design Methodology (OOADM) was used to design the solution which was implemented with the direct changeover. Hypertext preprocessor (PHP), CSS, and Bootstrap were the programming tools used to develop the system. The result is a system for checking plagiarism in the University of Uyo.
