Description
Effect of aqueous extracts of Moringa Oleifera seed on the lipid profile of albino rats.
Abstract
The effects of oral administration of the aqueous extract of the seed of Moringa oleifera at 200, 400, 600 and 800 mg/kg were investigated in 25 albino rats. The rats were assigned into five (5) groups of five (5) rats each. Group1 being the normal control was given feed and water only group 2, 200mg/kg of the extract group 3, 400 mg/kg group 4, 600 mg/kg and group 5, 800mg/kg. Groups 2 to 3, served as the treatment group while group 1 served as control. There was no significant difference (P0.05) between the two control groups and the treatment groups for the TG, HDL and TC . However. It can therefore be concluded that oral administration of aqueous extract of the seed of Moringa oleifera is harmless to the rats since no adverse effects were detected in the lipid profile of the albino rats.
