Effect of democracy on rural development.
Abstract
This project titled “Effect of Democracy on Rural Development” A case study of Local Government is aimed at assessing the extent to which democratic government provides appropriate development and development activities responsive to local wishes and initiatives and identify the challenges that local government administration encountered in providing developmental activities to the community. Questionnaire was adopted in conducting this research work, and the results derived were used as data analysis in chapter four. The research work concluded that democracy is based on the freely expressed will of the people to determine their own political, economic, social and cultural system and their full participation in all aspects of their lives. It also recommends that there must be desire and willingness for democracy to flourish, it must desire by the people who in turn must be willing to enface to attain it, and people in the society must learn to tolerate opposite views with the knowledge that democracy is all about a superior argument.
