Abstract
Impact of the operation of SARS special anti-robbery squad in Nigeria. Consequent to the increased reported cases of crime in Nigeria, the Nigerian police force decided to set up the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS. This study is therefore aimed at examining the impact that SARS operations have made on the Nigerian society. A primary source of data was used for this study through the method of questionnaire administration to selected respondents of interest. The data available for this study were mostly evaluated using bar chart descriptive statistics to provide a clear explanation of the subject matter based on the opinion of the respondents. To ascertain the hypothesis of the study, the chi-square test of hypothesis will be applied. From the result of the study, it was concluded that the result further indicated that most citizens are highly unsatisfied with the operation of SARS in the Nigerian society. Positive impact of SARS in Nigeria includes the reduction of crime and robbery, while the major negative impacts include abuse of citizens, indulgence in bribery and torture of citizens/police brutality.
