Abstract
This project looks at Internet use and academic performance of the Federal Polytechnic Offa students. Internet plays a very important role in facilitating academic activities in tertiary institution. The study revealed the relationship between the internet and students’ academic performance, the influence of internet on students’ academic performance, the association between students’ academic performance and regular use of internet, and how often student assess the internet. The research design chosen for this study is survey method by means of a close ended questionnaire. The source of data is primary and qualitative, the sample size for the research is 100 and a non-probability sampling was adopted. The method of data analysis is measures of central tendency[frequency table]. The frequency table revealed the numbers of outcome of each respondent to individual questions and discussion to determine the dependency of one variable over the other, the study therefore revealed that there is relationship between internet usage and students’ academic performance and there was no association between students’ academic performance and the regular use of internet. Hence, answers have been provided for research questions.
