ABSTRACT

The research work titled mass media as a tool for educating youths on violence a case study of Khana local government of Rivers state seeks to find out the causes of violence in the local government among the youths and the role the mass media have played so far in curtailing this problem. To fully investigate the study, the researcher made use of questionnaires administered to 110 citizens of the local government in which 100 was returned successfully. From the findings, the researcher was able to discover that the major cause of violence among youths is unemployment and the rate of televising of violent movies and films by the mass media. However, some recommendations were offered by the researcher in attempt to eradicate this problem.
