Abstract

This project loks at Reward Management Practices and Employees Performance in Selected Public Secondary Schools in Ado Ekiti. The specific objectives of this study assess the reward management practices adopted for the staff in the Public Secondary Schools in Ado Ekiti, examine the effect of reward management   practices on the performance of Public Secondary Schools staff in Ado Ekiti, Analyze the challenges facing reward management practices in Public Secondary Schools in Ado Ekiti. The data was collected through the administration of questionnaire to respondents in Public Secondary Schools in Ado Ekiti. The simple random sampling was used to select the sample size of 300 respondents from all the staff in the selected Public Secondary Schools. Ten public secondary schools were selected namely: Ekiti State Government College, Ado Grammar School, Ado Community Grammar School, St. Paul Anglican Grammar School, Mary Immaculate Grammar School, Christ’s School, Ola-Oluwa Muslim Grammar School, Baptist Comprehensive High School, Muslim College and C.A.C Grammar School. Simple percentage, Descriptive and inferential statistical tools were used to analyze the data. Three hypotheses were formulated and tested at alpha level of 95% confidence interval, using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS version 22). The findings of this study show that financial and non-reward of employee recognition, praise, fringe benefits, promotion, appreciation, salary pay, conducive work environment and staff development are positively and significantly related to employee performance in public secondary schools.  The following recommendations were given: Government is enjoined to be more proactive in the effective reward management practices on the performance of staff of Public Secondary Schools in Ado Ekiti and Ekiti State at large. The study concluded that adequate reward management practices should be given to their employees to ensure positive productivities and boost the morale of the employees
