Abstract

Statistical analysis of crisis in academic environment. The motivation for this study, therefore, is to critically examine the causes and effects of youth crisis in tertiary institution environment. In the late second quarter of the year 2021, the host community of the Delta State Polytechnic Otefe-Oghara, had an experience of massive youth crisis that led to the loss of lives and properties and as far to the event of shutting academic operations down for weeks. In this study, the focused population under study is Otefe-Oghara. Therefore the population of the study includes residents in the community of age 18 and above. Data were sourced from respondents via the use of questionnaires and were analyzed using simple bar charts. The result indicated that wastage of public properties/facilities, increased unemployment and joblessness from destroyed business facilities, reduced societal development, and loss of human lives are the resulting effect of the youth crisis.
