Description

Abstract

Statistical analysis of the impact of gas flaring activities on human health and environment in Nigeria. This study will examine the impact of gas flaring on human health and the environment. The data used in the study were basically secondary in nature. The data were collected on the health history of Gas Venting Reactor staff at a Gas Company. The data were analyzed using the binary logistic regression model. The result of the study shows that the volume of gas flare is expected to yield some health implications especially when individuals get too exposed to the flare of gas in the atmosphere. The study also pointed out that the odds of experiencing organs related health hazards due to gas flare level is 53.786 times the other factors presented. The Wald statistics (5.341) yielded results that appear to be greater than 5.024 of the?_0.05,1^2. Age, gender and marital status show no significant relationship with the nature of health complications experienced as a result of the flare, whereas, the estimated model tells us that the more the content of gas flare, the more exposed people get and the more exposed they become, the higher the risk of experiencing health disasters emanating from the flare of gas in the environment
