Abstract
This work examined the contribution of local government to the transformation of rural areas using Mopa -Muro local government as the case study. Realizing the fact that many people do not really appreciate the contribution of local government in the rural area, the objective of this project is to ascertain the developmental needs of Mopa-Muro local government area. The methodology adopted in gathering data was both the primary and secondary sources. The major instrument used to gather data from primary sources is the questionnaire. From a population of one hundred and thirty -five thousand, one hundred and forty-seven (135, 147), a sample size of fifty (100)respondents was selected using simple random technique. It was observed that the transformation of a particular local government cannot ensure buoyancy without the existence of the people in a community and even in the nation. It is therefore recommended that The local government, which is regarded as the grassroots government, must take note of its responsibility, which they have been created for in providing the social, economic and cultural upliftment of the rural dwellers. This is because they stand a good chance of performing in the country.
